Ford is working on smarter headlight technology to make roads safer, but legislation dating back nearly 50 years could prevent them from actually coming to the U.S

Ford recently announced it has developed an advanced headlight system to illuminate hazards in the road and see around corners and wide intersection. The method, which Ford calls “Spot Lighting,” uses a front-mounted infrared camera to spot people or large animals in view, as well as LED lights mounted on the front bumper and on a screen in the car

The technology will also come with a camera-based advanced front lighting system, which uses the infrared cameras in conjunction along with GPS data to shine into hard-to-see areasThis will enable the car to learn the routes you take, automatically anticipating where it needs to adjust the lights.
